I have a Business degree, but I want to be a CPA, what should I do?

I have a BS in Business Management, and I want to be a CPA. What is the best thing for me to do to be as successful as possible (dollars and opportunities)? I understand I need 24 units of Accounting for the CPA candidacy (I hav e 12 units already). Would a MBA with an Accounting emphasis be good enough, or should I get an MS in Accounting? What would employers prefer? I live in California.
