There is nothing about your education or work experience that prevents you from being hired. As far as the PFT, it will NOT take "years" until you have to take it. I would wait to apply until you are VERY close to passing it, THEN apply. That way, by the time you do have to take it, passing it will be no problem at all. Lack od physical fitness is the #1 cause of drop-outs at the academy. Do not try to just barely meet the minimum requirements.
