I have a 98 lincoln continental with a v-8 in it. Is this a zero clearance engine? ?

Do I need to have the timing belts or chains changed before they break? The car has 156,000 and the oil has always been changed at 3000 miles. Do I really need to have the timing worked on at say 150,000 miles or just keep running it? They want $2000 to replace the timing $1800 for 1 side and another $200 for the other side. This just seems like its a lot of money. What do you think?????
