how to fix it myself.? Never had any probs with my head lights but started my car this morning and went to turn the lights on and they did not come on. Turned them off then turned them back on and they came on. I stopped to get coffee and turned the car off and when I came back out I started the car went to turn the lights on and niether the running headlights or regular ones came on. I checked to see if the high beams would come on and they did so I had to drive to work with my high beams on. Drove home in the daylight and the running light indicator was on but the lights weren't. Checked the fuses and they are good. Checked for a relay in the car and in the Haynes manual and didn't find any.
Any suggestions before I take it to a shop to fix it? Can't really afford to take it to the shop but even worse can't afford to not have headlights!

Sounds like you checked everything but the switch. I replaced mine for under $40 at Autozone.
Yours is $50 without cruise control and $70 with cruise control.
Good luck

you may have a bad headlight switch. if the switch that turns the headlights on is also the switch you use to brighten or dim the lights then you will need to have a mechanic do the job. if you do it wrong, you could set off the air bags.(very bad) bite the bullit and have a pro tell you what is wrong. they won't charge much at all just to check it. don't take it to the dealer. they will charge an arm and leg to do anything.

did you check if the bulbs are bad? is there a crack in the plastic light covering? if there is a crack in the plastic covering water probably got in there and corroded the bulbs. which would make the lights only work half of the time and eventually stop working all together. there also could be a loose wire that you might want to check on too. idk if i am much help. sorry if i am not
