thanks for the answers, JVClassic, i took it in due to bad oil leak, but they recommend timing belt, water pump, thermostat, plus the oil gasket or crank shaft seal, something like that..i did not totallly follow all they said...not very mechanically inclined myself, which works against me on these things..LOL
 
Yes. You can get 300,000 miles out of a Camry. I've seen lots of them at auction over 300K. And you can beat that $1000 cost. What's it need?
 
With the high cost of new cars it's worth repairing. Even if you buy a used car you will be looking at $200 - $250 a month payments. If $1000 repair will add 1 - 2 more years to the life of your present car you are way ahead.
