I have a 96 dodge stratus but there is a 5th gear problem, help?

I have a 1996 dodge stratus and the gear wont go to the 5th gear.. what could be the problem? Can anyone give me several reasons into it so that i can figure out what i need to do and what it is going to cost me. The car is given to me as a gift so i wouldn't mind spending a lil bit of money to get it fixed.
