last easter i was installing a new alternator. along the way i was being rushed to bring the kids to the easter bunny. as a result i hooked the battery up backwards for a few seconds after sparking. i replaced the blown fuses under the hood and bought a new alternator and a battery. since this happened i have problems with the electric in the dashboard. my speedometer goes haywire and jumps around. i was just wondering what i can do to fix it. i also took the dashboard apart and cleaned the connection
the problem with the wiring affects the car lighter and the dome lights and the radio wiring is somehow all shorted or something. none of it works. these problems came with the truck when i bought it

Replacing the entire guage cluster is probably going to be your solution. There should be plenty of them available used at pick and pulls because of the Clunkers program. It may also be the computer has been damaged, pull one of them to be safe. Hopefully they won't charge you much for either of them. Good luck.

seek advice from a auto electrician. striping out dash boards etc could be a waste of time if it is only an earthing problem. if you end up with a short somewhere it could turn out disastrous, fire etc, may be cheaper in the long run.
