I have a 88 jeep cherokee and something snaped and my tire is almost off what is it?

HELLO I have a 1988 jeep Cherokee Laredo and i was backing out of my garage and the front passenger tire came almost off. I got down and looked and there is something that snaped and it comes off the axle it is like have a circle shape and something is supposed to go though it. Can any one help?

you need too replace the axle dude cv joint broke

It could be your axle U joint thats behind the wheel that goes to your transmission and goes through the center of the wheel and comes out on the outter side and is held on with a big axle nut and cotter pin.You didnt mention if this was a 4 wheel drive jeep cherokee or two wheel drive.Have the joint replaced.
