i HAVE A 85 pontiac fiero. Car wont start. there is a loud click and then

the car loses all power? I started a tune up on my 1985 pontiac fiero. I replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and roter. When i tried to start it it started cranking and stopped. Then it just did a loud click. Now when i try to start it it does a loud click and loses all power. What could be the problem?

First check that all the wires are correctly installed. Next check that the solenoid on the starter is still good. You can take it to any autoparts store and they can test it. Check that your battery is still good at the same time and find out if it has enough cranking amps. when you get the enigne turning over, not just clicking any more. Ensure your spark plugs are sparking by pulling one out and leaving it attached to the spark plug wire hold it against something metal on the engine and have a buddy crank the engine and look for a spark. Next ensure the wires are connected in the correct firing order. Put the number one cylinder at top dead center on the compression stroke( you should have some kind of mark on the pully or something, check with your manual. The rotor should be pointing at the wire for the #1 spark plug, so pull the cap and check it. Reinstall the cap back to the right spot. Next time the distributor ensuring it's not 180 degrees backwards. Then it should fire right up, assuming you have a working carbuerator.

YOUR BATTERY CABLE OR YOUR GROUND CABLE IS NOT TIGHT,, CHECK ALL THE CONNECTIONS AT BATTERY, STARTER, AND ALSO ENGINE GROUND,, FOLLOW BLACK GROUND WIRE FORM BATTERY TO ENGINE,, REMOVE, SAND AND REPLACE IF NECISARY,,CHECK BATTERY TO MAKE SURE IT IS FULLY CHARGED..ART
