- for christmas i bought my daughter a 6 yr old shetland pony from a friend. they have been around the pony for years and he is broke to ride and seemed to be veryy friendly until last week. the first accident happend when my mother took my daughter down to the pasture and when inside the fence to see him, he begin to run and buck and make that snorting noise. then he started running straight toward my mother and 2 yr old daughter, so my mother jumped the fence with my daughter because she actual thought he was just going to keep running and hit them. he has never acted like this he has always been very sweet and loved for us to be around him. in the past week he has not acted like that again. so today i went to the barn called him and he came like always and i put his halter on to take him out in the yard to walk and let my daughter see him, for the first 5 minutes walking slowly on the rope he was good, and all of the sudden he bumped into me with his head and decided to go a different direction so i kept the rope tight and told him to come on then he deicded to buck and kick and take off running. there was no noises to scare him we were not in a different area everything was normal, i really dont know what is going on with coco. so i finally got a hold of him and took the rope finally got him back in the fence and as soon as i got the rope from the halter he bucked again kicking and making noises and began to run like crazy all over the pasture and would not come back to me.....PLEASE tell me what you think is going on with him. its like he goes crazy sometimes and he was so sweet what could it be??
