that oil is going somewhere

leaking into water system through head gasket?

leaking past pistons?

it's not good, start looking at a new car..... or prepare to spend some bucks on repairs soon

Common problem with that generation. The piston rings get stuck. You can try using a cleaning product like seafoam which should help reduce the amount of oil the engine burns. The only real fix is to replace the piston rings. Using updated pistons or the entire engine from a 9th generation corolla is a permanent fix.
