...turn to the right? when i try to turn to the left its real hard it turns to the right normal.see i had my rack and pinion replaced.Im thinking the left side is not getting enough fluid.can the left pump be replaced without replacing the whole thing.

The answer to the question is no.

How long has it been since the rack was replaced?
Was it giving you trouble immediately after it was replace?

It sounds like the Rack has failed for some reason. You need to find out why its failed. Is there plenty of Power Steering fluid--make sure there are no leaks in any hoses or fittings.

Unless you have had trouble with the shop who made the replacement repairs I would suggest you take your car back to them. The rack may still be under warranty.

Drive very carefuly if you have to drive your GP. Get it fixed as soon as possible as there is the potential of complete failure and I am sure you would not want to hurt someone else should it fail and you cannot avoid an accident.

Best Wishes and I hope this is of some help.

It sounds as though your Rack is BAD.
Turning hard one way and not the other is an indication of a bad control Valve inside the rack and Pinion. There is Only ONE pump that supplies fluid and pressure to both directions. Most rebuilt Racks will have a one year warranty on them.
