I have a 2000 dodge dakota ,with a 4.7 litre, it is overheating?

I have checked both the clutched fan and the electric fan, both are working , I do have heat so the thermostat must be working. It over heats after slowing down after I have been driving for a long distance, on short trips it is o.k.I have a feeling it maye be the water pump, Do you have any thoughts on this.
