...trailer or child seat for her? could any experienced biker parents please give us some advice on this? we just cant decide. thanks
we have bought Bicycles!!! Of course we would not put a child near a motor bike! we are english and obviously use different terms for the 'bike'!
anyway, if anyone can offer any advice on this i would be grateful......every one here in the uk goes bicycling with their children from one year on - off road cycling of course.

If you are talking about a push bike then why not, my mother had a seat like this (1) these are perfectly safe and i travelled round in one for ages and they are very safe as well, with extra straps and safety features.
However you could have a trailer like this (2) they are good as well but i feel a seat is best for you.
The seats are cheaper than the trailers.

If its a motorbike....its a big no no

Hope this helps!

It's entirely up to you. I had a seat on the back of the bike for my daughter from about age six months, and my daughter loved it. (And you are getting a helmet for both her AND yourself, I hope.)

What do you mean "off road cycling of course"? Most people who cycle with kids do so on the roads - they need to get places! And not every road has a cycletrack.

I would definitely get a bike trailer. We just bought a used Cougar Chariot and I love it. I didn't feel safe with my son on the back of the bike as I've heard a squirming child can cause you to lose your balance and then they go down with you. Most trailers will stay upright if your bike tips. The other nice thing about trailers is you can haul stuff in them (groceries, picnic stuff) and a lot turn into stroller. Some people do worry about the trailer not being seen but most are very brightly coloured and have a flag so I don't see this as much of a problem. You do definitely drive more defensively but I think that you apply to either item. Have fun biking!

REALLY, BOTH ARE BAD NOT UNLESS YOU ARE A VERY GOOD RIDER. EITHER WAY, YOU GO DOWN AND THE CHILD FOLLOWS. I HAVE SEEN MANY PARENTS BOTH IN A CHILD SEATS AND TRAILER TAKE THE SPILL. IF YOU MUST, THE TRAILER ALWAYS WORKS BEST AS THE DISTANCE FOR THE CHILD TO REACH THE GROUND IS ONLY ABOUT 2FT. COMPARED TO 4.5FT ON THE CHILD SEAT.
BE SAFE, HAPPY CYCLING!

I liked the trailer better. With the car seat you have to be prepared for your baby making sudden moves to look at something and if you're not expecting it, it can throw your balance off.

if you mean Motorbike, then forget it, just leave the baby to your parents or nanny when you riding it.
if you mean bicycle, then i would say child seat is better, i just don't feel safe for dragging a baby behind my back when i couldn't what happens to him/her.
you can have a front child seat so u can keep an eye on your baby.

a trailer. add this guy on myspace he is selling really nice bikes . his dada owns a motercycle place.http://www.myspace.com/jgandljstraightpimpin
