I have a 1999 Toyota Camry with 77,000 miles on it and it is in excellent shape.?

The transmission has started to a make a "groaning" noise as I accelerate. I had it looked at by a repairmen who said it would cost $1,200 to fix. What could possibly be wrong with the transmission that would casuse a groaning noise and cost $1,200 to fix. I may be 72 but I'm not stupid. Thanks.

1200 sounds like a new trans......would suggest having a service done on it first.......back flushing the fluid as well........

also take it to another trans shop if u still have a problem after that....



** btw i am assuming u already made sure it has the proper lvl of trans fluid???

Well you should first have a few different people to look at it. Its hard to really give you good advise because I cant hear it to help you out. You might get by with a good old fashin flush and filter change.
