I have a 1999 chevy venture, shifting between gears becomes hard when the van is

driven for 20 minutes? The van is good when it is cold , the transmission acts up only when it is hot. I cosulted a mechanic once about this problem and he told me the whole transmission has to dropped and a complete overhall has to be performed, but i don't believe him i think he was only trying to make money.Any one knows any thing about this?
 
Try changing the transmission fluid and filter. See if that helps, and its cheaper than dropping the transmission itself. Next adjust the throttle valve or modulator to make sure it is set correctly. Get the manual on that model transmission from the library, that might help. Good luck
