MY 98 Continental overheats, there is a hose of some type hanging from the bottom of it. Does anyone know what is likely to be the problem? Coolant runs from it fast. I took it to a mechanic and he told me it was the head gasket and he recommends a new engine which will cost me close to $2000 for the engine and service. I would like to know what else could be the problem because that is a lot of money to pay for a 12 year old car that may have another big problem within a years time or so.

Thanks
