repairs... is it worth it? I have had very little work done to my Honda, however I have had it maintained w/ the 3k mile check up its entire life. My 3k mark was today and I had the oil changed, filter changed, tires rotated, and everything else checked.
I took it to the Honda dealership near me and they have always been respectful and honest from what I can tell. They have always told me these are my safety issues, and these are just issues to watch. I was told today that my rear brakes had to be fixed today due to safety. Everything else I am going to list can wait to be fixed until late fall/early winter... power steering fluid/flush, trailing arm bushings 90% broken, alignment, cv axle boot split dirt in joint, axle replace, air filter, roters, brake fluid flush, belts replaced (not the timing belt that was done in 6/06, but the belts outside the timing belt), and my rear tires are 3/4 worn at 4 32nds (and you purchase them 9-10 32nds, and MUST replace them at 3 32nds)... any thoughts? I had hardly put money into my car, have maintained it really well. BUT do i put the $2392 that I am going to spend (just spent $300 today) into a new/new used car? HELP please?
*** Thanks for all the Answers... I wanted to clarify that I spent $300 on an oil change, filter, tire rotation, AND rear brakes and roters... (and actually it was $283.64). Thanks for all the answers, will still think about it. This is a tough decision!
Yes I have the money/credit for a new car. But I am trying to be completly debt free (Dave Ramsey Baby!) aside from my house. I have been saving for almost 10 months for a new-er car- and $2392 takes a lot of money out of my savings for a cash car payment... i think i will stick it out. I like the idea of getting the safety things fixed NOW (which i did today), and waiting/repairing when needed on the rest of the still important issues. And pay the $2k+ a little at a time, and maybe next year I will have saved enough for a car...
