I have a 1998 Dodge Stratus, and it makes a loud vibrating noise when you accelerate....

...What could be wrong? The noise lasts for some time after letting off the gas pedal, but usually doesn't sound when braking or coasting. The motor mounts were recently replaced so the issue is elsewhere.
Yes, the Check Engine light is currently on. It has a habit of going off and then coming back on randomly a few weeks later. The car does continue to make the noise even when the light is off however.

Missfire on a cylinder? check all the wire connections to your spark plugs and distributor/ignition coil. Also try some fuel injector cleaner. Is the Check Engine light on? I think the dodge stratus will let you check the codes by turning the key on-off-on-off-on then the codes will flash at you and you can look them up either in a repair manual or online.
