I have a 96 Mercury Sable that not only over heats when it is hot outside, this 4th it was like 90 and I had heat coming up out of the coolant tank. A mechanic that was at the gas station said that my thermostat was bad but I got that changed 2 wks ago. Not only that but it sounds like I am literally dragging a chain around when I go at slower speeds, my step dad said it was the cadalitic (spelling) converter (the clamp that holds it to the car) but the mechanic told me it wasn't. Any suggestions on what may be wrong? I just got the engine light fixed I had to get some emissions valve changed but than the engine light went back on. Any possiblilities to why this may be going on would be greatly appreciated, I have two hours to drive tonight before I get home and don't want to get stranded.
