I have a 1996 ford explore. What happens if you don't get a tune up? Will that

cause your car not to start?
The battery is only a few months old. I have not had a tune up in a long time. When I attempt to start it, it does not turn over but the lights come on. I sit there for awhile then I keep tryin until it finally turns over.
 
missing alot of info here. Is the starter trying to turn over? Battery condition? How old are the plugs and wires? Have you pulled a plug and inspected the condition?
 
Yes, this could very well be a problem for you. Your spark plugs could be on the fritz or your wires may have corroded. I would start there. Do you have a dead battery? Make sure that everything is in order and if you don't take care of your car it won't take care of you. Best of luck.

Well after awhile it will start running like crap,missing firing,loss of oil pressure,loss of power,loss of RPMs and yes after awhile of this it could start getting harder to start and lead to not starting at all.
