ive had this car for 2 days now and when i test drove it and what not i had the air on the whole time and ofcourse everything was fine, well after i bought the car i drove it home and my mom was with me and asked me to turn the air off well i did and like a min or 2 after that it started to run hot and over heat, so we pulled off and just luckily my brother in law was in behind us well he took off the thermostat and it was corroded, well we took it off put some anti-freeze in and i drove it home it took me an hour to get home and it didnt run hot after that it stayed just halfway below the half mark and it has been well i was driving it today and it spiked up over the halfway mark twice, the car still runs and drives fine just you can smell antifreeze ever so often, we bought a new thermostat were going to flush the radiator (and do a tune up bc it needs it lol) but i need some more suggestions of what it could be i was told it could also be a water pump, radiator, or the motor fan, but when i turn my car off the motor fan comes on to cool it off so please if you have any suggestions please pleaseee answer this ! thanks
well i dont know much about cars to be honest this is my first car so im not sure if it is coming on or not. and we went to o Reily auto parts today and they told me to replace the thermostat and flush it out and that should do the trick.
