...power and shifts too soon.? Check engine light was on and had diagnostic run and it came up: MAF sensor and throttle pos. sensor. I changed these and it stopped the car from dying periodically but now I have great loss in power and trans wants to shift into 2nd by 15mph and 3rd by 25mph and will not go into passing gear ever. I have done a complete tuneup and fuel filter change, trans filter change, spark plugs, wires, air filter. The cruise control shuts off by itself also but resumes when I give it more gas. This car has 180,000 miles on it and otherwise is a great car. Before I changed the sensors, it had plenty of power and shifted fine. I hope someone can please help me. Thanks so much.
 
You may want to check your ignition coils, they are known for depleting over the years and become so weak that the car will not accelerate very well at all. I work on lot's of buicks and thats a common defect.
