When you start the truck the trans don't want to engage. It takes a little while to engage in all gears even when it has ran for over a hour, I was told it was either the pump or converter. what do i need to do to fix this problem?

But that should have been checked.
had some shop rebuilt my c4 and they never checked the torque conver even after one guy said it was crucial.They are now out of business.
