I have a 1988 chevrolet caprice and sometimes when it gets hot is losses power?

The car has a 305 with a quadrajet carb. It starts up fine and then after about 15-20 minutes of driving it losses power and wants to stall when you step on the gas. There is a clicking coming from the carb. It looks like some solenoid on the left side looking at the front of the engine. I do not know if this is the issue or not. I scanned it and came up with code 23. This code says it is M/C solenoid. This is the same solenoid that is clicking. Could this be the problem? Or maybe the catalytic converter? Please help. Thanks
