...side of the motor!? there was no strange noises, i checked and replaced the timing belt but no change for the better! what do i look look for now? or where do i start before having to take the head off?

No compression on 3 cylinders--nothing? or low compression?Check the centre induction gasket between the 2 heads and then the head gasket. But why you would loose compression on 3 cyls with a head gasket fault is baffling unless it,s blown in 2 places and even then you would have some compression.

Bad compression on one bank of cylinders, I would suspect a head gasket or a cracked head. Bad valve or a hole in a piston would affect only one cylinder. I think you need to take off the head.

if you lost compression on all on one side you need to remove heads and have them check and replace head gaskets

My guess is you have a bad crank. That or all 3 pistons failed. Are the pistons moving? How about the valves, are they opening?
