I have a 1978 chevrolet K20 stuck in low 4 the T-case is a np 205 with auto lockers?

Try getting it out while backing up. I remember something about this when I worked for Chevy back in the 70's. In fact I had this problem with my Toyota 4x4 and got it out by backing up. Good Luck.
 
check and make sure the linkage on the transfer case hasn't come loose,if it hasn't it may be broken shift fork in the transfer case,this was a common problem with the 205,s i got a few of those and they all are messed up from wear,if it is a broken fork on it you wont be able to get it out,that's why i have had to change a few of those,good luck.
