i have a 05 dodge ram 1500 need help transmission problems?

Hope you're under warranty...check to be sure. I can't remember if it was in 2005, but for a few years around then (I really think it was 2005), Dodge had a transferrable 7yr/70,000 miles Powertrain warranty, which would apply, even if you bought it used. This would cover the engine and the transmission. Check your miles and refer to the Dealer service department for verification on your particular model.
 
you need to borrow a scanner and scan that one, you,ll probably get code for tcu or a solenoid code on it,if it was me though id take it to a qualified transmission shop and let them check it,check all the fuses real good and make sure none of them are blown,good luck.
 
Pull shifter down into first and try to shift manually and see if it is sluggish still. If not...it is a shift solenoid. Even if it is still sluggish it doesnt totally rule out a shift solenoid. These arent very hard to change.
