hello, i have a 60 litre tropical fish tank and in it i have just got 6 fish, 2 silver sharks and 4 red barbs, i was just wondering because ive heard if i get a betta fish. that might fight the other fish or the other fish might eat its fins. they are beautiful fish so could you help me?

They are going to fight, if you do want to get new fish, you are going to have to get an other aquarium because it might be dangerous and also a waist of money!

No, the barbs are known fin nippers, and the betta's fins will be the "cape before the bull."
Betta's are actually more likely to be the victim of aggression that to be the aggressor in a community tank. A betta would be unable to defend himself in a tank with these aggressive fish.
Best of Luck!

Bettas are relatively peaceful with other fish that are not bettas, but I strongly don't recommend you getting a betta for your sharks and barbs, as THEY will nip your betta's fin. I haven't tried this, but you could add a lot of floating plants for the betta to hide, but I still think the other fish would find a way to weasel out the betta somewhere, especially the barbs.

Well for one thing, don't get 2!!! But other that that, Beta fish are pretty calm around other fish.... let the bag that you get the fish in sit on top of the water in your tank for a few minutes, i suggest 10 - 12, after the first few days, the beta will be territorial and may nip, so watch out.... if it gets to aggressive after the first week, you may have to but into just a glass fish bowl.

The other fish are even more likely to attack your new Betta, than your Betta attack your fish, so be aware of nipping of the tail

Definitely get a female, they are less aggressive and more calm

And also, remember that it all depends on the fish, you may happen to just have bought a bad one

Good Luck!
