i have 2 kenwood 12 peak power is 1000 w and rated power is 200 w what does that mean?

i dont know if that means i can put a 1000 W to each speaker or not
cause i want to by an amp but i dont know wether to get 1000w amp or a 2000 w amp any facts would be apreciated i dont want to blow my speakers
