I have 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited it was fine but now cranks and wont start can...

...anyone helpme? I did have a loose cable and for a while do 2 lack of tools(I was in process of moving) I would just twist the cable until it had a good connection and it would start and run no problem! now it cranks and I dont believe it is firing and or getting any fuel! IF I give it gas it will start until i let off gas and then it will die!
