every time i need to start the car i have to press the clutch fully down if not it does not start. it does not start when the stick is on neutral . is this the same on all north american toyota's,

Sell the piece of Crap and buy something that the profits come back to this country. Toyjoka has had more recalls in the last 2 years than all of the big three put together. This is fact not opinion.

You have to push in the clutch to start every manual car. As far as neutral goes, when the clutch is pushed in the engine is not engaged so technically you are always in neutral when the clutch is pushed in.

yes, they R all like that. if u want to over ride this feature. get down on the floorboard, look at where the clutch pedal hits the wall. there will be a button of some sort exposed just abit. unscrew it from its mount, and tape the button "down" with some tape, or clamp it or whatever works 4 U. and....VWALAAW.... ur car will no longer treat u like a 4 yr old. BEWARE!! this will now enable your car to START IN GEAR, & it will therefore lunge forward if U do start it in gear. so valet's & girlfriends & such will most likely crash it into something someday if u dont closely monitor this . always start in NEUTRAL.
