I hate my new Yakima roof mounted bike rack. What are my options?

I hated the trunk mounted Superjoe 3 and now I have a full roof top rack with two king cobra bike racks and I despise it. It's just as loose and insecure and damaging to my car as the Superjoe 3 and I just want to dump the whole thing at Yakima's doorstep and demand a full refund. The fairing is really the part that broke the camel's back. If I could just use the fairing with the rack then I might be OK with it, but that fairing doesn't fit unless you mount the king cobras BACKWARDS with the rails sticking out over the windshield. Is there some other way to carry bikes? My car does not have a hitch option. I'm just tossing it in the trunk with the wheel off from now on. This is madness!?!?
 
Well, I hate racks. I am uncomfortable putting my bike out to the elements, and thieves. They will find a way to take it or damage it. I put my in the back seat with the tires off. I put them back on when I get to my location. I to spend a bit more time, but for my peace of mine it is unmeasurable. I ride alone too. if I had someone else, I would need to rethink buying a rack, or if I wanted to transport two of my bikes.
