I hate driving

Well, after about a year of driving, I had my first accident today. I was backing my dad's Avalanche out of a Jamba Juice parking lot when I hear loud crunch. The fat ass of my truck had blocked my view of a small red sedan which happened to be owned by a worker in the Jamba Juice. The truck was unscathed, but the sedan had a nice dent/crack in the bumper. Now I wouldn't be so bummed about this if it weren't for the crap I had gone through earlier.

Today had also been my first time driving through San Francisco which, if anyone has been to, is vehicle hell. Pedestrians practically lay themselves out in front of you. Crazy bicyclists ride out into the middle of traffic from the sidewalk. I was actually forced to drive on the wrong side of the road by a blind bus driver pulling out of a bus stop. Again, this is my first time driving in San Francisco and I managed to make it without a scratch. So it's only natural I back up into someone in a Jamba Juice parking lot.

I've already told my Dad about it and he's cool with it. I might just skip insurance and pay for the bumper myself. I've just had a bit too much stress for me in one day.

So, you hate driving because you weren't good at it your first few times, and failed to check what was behind you in a parking lot? Good call.

Driving does indeed suck, I don't like it.... only do it when I must, which is sadly, A lot. Good luck with your driving adventures! I've had so many, including the S.F. trip down the middle of China Town... hooooooooooooo baby!

I got through a year without one crash; I thought that was good driving. I also had the accident at a low-stress time rather than the high-stress San Francisco streets. Then again, I guess you don't get much traffic in Indiana, do you.

To JLXC: Thanks for the support. I need to get myself a small sedan so I'm not surrounded by blind spots all the time. How was China town; I've been there, but it was on foot.

Don't sweat it, those Avalanche's are pretty huge and you probably are not used to driving such a beast of a vehicle. Still this is just my opinion you need to be more aware of your surroundings.

I kinda know how ya feel. My Hyundai is a fucking beast in parking lots, handles like shit. I nearly hit someone in WaMu today, but it was their fault. And getting out of Checkers was next to impossible.

I love driving. I find it fun and relaxing. But only if I enjoy that model of car. I hate shit like old Malibus. Outbacks are fun but get uncomfortable quickly. But my XG350L is a treat.

Bahaha, San Francisco is easy. Yeah, you have shit flying at you from all angles but the one-way streets make it easy enough.

The problem is that the one-way streets make it so fucking hard to get where you're going!

I've driven in China town, all over Market and that one street that's the windiest around. It is pretty fun!

Anyways, that sucks about your accident, man. You could probably have spied the car if you tried really hard - try craning your neck and using all your mirrors. You might get an extra foot of visibility, which is sometimes just enough.

Most of the time I ride my bike if the destination is close enough, but that's not too often. The problem is, the only vehicle available to me is the Avalanche. Sometimes my Dad will let me use the Prius; now that I like to drive.

I'd hate for any of you to even touch my '69 Valiant.

You people that have issues with mid size (compact) cars have issues.

I can understand a truck...to a point. But wtf is wrong with the rest of you?

Then again my first (drivable) car was a '64 Dodge Polara 500 2 door HT. Full size car in every way. Big block 383, fast as hell. Also drove a huge '72 Dodge flat-bed delivery truck. Not a small truck, but the one not quite big enough to be classified as a semi, but with the same size tires.

Fuck, you drive ANYTHING and pay attention to EVERYTHING. Bottom line. Point blank. End of story.

Don't they still have that "walk around your car before you get in to see what's around you before you drive" thing in the test? or is that gone now?

Shit happens..I do understand that. But, the "OMGZZZZ my car is such a pain cause I suck and probably shouldn't even be driving, but that wasn't the point, I just wanted to post because I love to tell stories and see myself post and I like to see my name on a post and well, I suck at driving and did I mention OMGZZZ?" (descent)

Wow, that got off topic.

I have had 2 accedents so far, one was in my escort where someone pulled out in front of me and stopped, I had one arm in a cast and had to swerve around them. I cut the wheel to one side fine, but couldn't get it back fast enough, busted the rim on the curb...

The second was yesterday. I gess the guy behind me lost the ability to concive what brake lights and a car not moving means... Yeah, he rear ended me. The best part, he had no INS, and my rear bumper has more steal in it than his whole car did.

I have driven so many different types of cars, trucks, suv's and even road tractors. The hardest thing to drive by far has to be an old Mack twin stick. I had sutch a hard time shifting the rear to 2nd and getting the front in the right gear. Other than that, I don't have an issue with driving. My first car had magnets for tires so I learned to do a walk around before driving off, and this has kept me from blowouts and accedents alike.

Lets see, I belive I have driven in about 24 states, and been pulled over in 5 of those. Of all the states to be pulled over in, Maryland and Virgina are the worst, being military only makes that worse. The worst states to drive in has to be Florida. Your ether surrounded by old people driving slow as hell, or old people that don't care who they kill as long as it's a glorious accedent.

I have been cut off to the point that it is more like a sport here than something to avoid. I have had people try to merge into my front or rear fender (forget checking your mirrors, people don't even look left or right before doing somehting here.) I have also had someone drive the wrong way up an offramp and get pissed at me because I wouldn't move out of there way.

Since I have started driving in FL, I have become more and more thankfull to be alive after every trip to the store.

Damn... I drive for a living myself and see a fair share of idiots. My favorite happened a couple of weeks as I was testing out my new oil pressure sending unit.... ;) Im turning off of a busy street onto another busy street. There's a 3 way intersection and there is a pair of turning lanes with traffic signals. I ease over into the inside lane while this asshole that cut me off 5 seconds earlier is on the outside line. RIght as I'm easing into the turning lane, the signal arrow flashes to orange. I decided I had plenty of time to make the light so I just kept on the gas. 5 seconds earlier some jackass cut me off, so he was on my shit list already. He is in the outside turning lane. So as soon as I see the light go orange and decide I can make it, I immediately turn my attention to jackass.

Predictably jackass that's barely in front of me also tries to cut the light but is a complete idiot and swerves straight across my bows in the process. I slammed the brakes and swerved, accidentally locked the right front, applied a liberal touch of opposite lock on the wheel to straighten out my brake oversteer, and an even more liberal dose of bad vibes towards this asshole who didnt even look to see if a loud, bright red car was right beside him as he damn near ran over me trying to cut a light. But to be completely honest... it was kinda fun. :D

Most of the time it's just idiots who tailgate you, brake for no reason, failure to signal, almost pull out in front you, etc. But this slightly more interesting than those.

But Georgia drivers for the most part aren't that bad. There's just not that much traffic out here so you've always got your own room usually. I dont like driving in Atlanta because anticipating what 15 different people around you are going to be doing at any given moment is a bit stressful.

Wow I am SERIOUSLY amazed you haven't been demoderated yet because that's like the second time you've tried to start shit with me outside of Bait and Tackle.
