TL;DR at bottom, but you wouldn't understand if you did not read.


The law enforcement in my town are the most corrupt collection of assholes I have ever seen. They do whatever the fuck they want like their badge is a fucking crown. Granted that there is a couple of good ones in the force and one I really owe for steering me out of a bad road, 90% of them are crooked shitheads. Let me give some examples of how they fuck over:

My family.

1. My mother is an ex-con. She got over drug-addiction and has completely rehabilitated her life. She has even earned my forgiveness for the heartache (Not an easy task). Of course the local cops tried everything to bring her down. some false allegations were made when she first reaquired custody of me and had me and my sister taken and restrained from seeing her. The investigating ooficer claimed to be an arm of Department of Family and Children services investigating reports of child abuse and neglect. It turned out that she was actually with the sherrifs office. The sherrif's office could offer no explanation of why we were being investigated.
This was about 4-5 years ago.

2. This year, I got fucked over. This also involves a crooked ass businessman. I was arrested in March on allegations of shoplifting. The owner of the store called me and said they had a video of me shoplifting a wallet bearing the logo of University of Georgia. (I'm a Geogia Tech fan.) I was quick to throw up the Bullshit flag. The store owner did offer to let me pay for the wallet, but why admit to a crime I did not do? I refused so we call the cops to file a police report and begin the process of defending my honor (I hate thieves.) City police arrive (One of the two non-crooked officers I can think of.) and watch the video with us. He says he does not see a theft. He makes the report and leaves. Later a detective from the sherrifs office (Sherrifs!? Investigating a crime out of his jurisdiction? Hmm...) comes to my house to interrogate me in the face of the video. I shoot down everything he throws at me and he leaves. Naturally, I hire a lawyer. (February) This was apparently grounds for my arrest. They took out a warrant for my arrest (and execute it without a DA's signature. again hmmm.) They don't even give me a chance to turn myself in. They come and arrest me at track practice, effectively embarrasing me in front of everyone. (March) I am now out on bond, waiting on trial. I have been arraigned and now waiting on trial. Unfortunately, I have not been Indicted yet. My spidey-senses tell me something is not right.

3. This one is short. My brother is now in jail on a bench warrant for not showing up to court when he was summoned. The bullshit part of it is that they never sent him the notice. They still have it themselves.


The townspeople: I will provide as much detail as I can.

1. The cops are paid off. The average drug dealer with a little money can get off his charge but a chech writer gets 5-10 years.

2. A bouncer at a local bar beat someone up for no reason. He kicked the guy in the knee just to show oof and broke it in two places. At this point an investigation of the bouncer and owner should be launched right? The cops did nothing. I'm thinking Bribery but I can't prove anything.


Local detention center inmates: Conditions worse than they should be. The average county inmate loses 10-15 pounds in the 1st week of incarceration.

Each other: All the good cops have desk jobs. You say anything, you get desked. And not by head sherrif.


This ain't all they have done. It's really pissing off the people of this county. If you put your ear to the ground here, you can kinda hear talks of "Changing Things"

So this is the way they do things down in GA huh??

Most times what happens in CPS cases (Child Protection Services) is someone makes a complaint. Here in Texas anyone can make it and it can be made anonymous. CPS still has to check it out. If your mom was still on parole that is why they removed you would be my guess. If no one is in a position that there rights are in question CPS has to prove there is a problem before they can do anything. At least in my experience. We have CPS officers. City police may set up meeting times or give out numbers and tell the person they have to call but their job is only to find you. If you lived out of the city limits I would assume they would use a sheriff. But neither has any power in a CPS case. Now to be clear if you are cooking meth out in the country and the sheriff busts you, you can bet CPS will come into the case. But city police and county sheriffs are not CPS and do not make CPS legal calls.

How come you hired a lawyer if you were not arrested? Does the tape show clearly you did not take the wallet??
 
Sounds to me like you're a victim of "guilt by association".

I'd be curious to know more about the details of your brother (and the crime he was accused of in order to have a court date). Typically, when one is charged, they appear before a judge and are given a court date. I've never heard of anything being mailed when it comes to matters like this.
 
She may be talking about the date of appearance. You skip one of these dates and gather a contempt charge. Then are thrown in jail for contempt with a cash bond until the next court date rolls around. Used often in back child support.
 
Even so....wouldnt something like that be sent via registered mail? Sorry, it's been a long time since I've been in trouble with the law...so things may have changed.
 
Actually, He was apparently going to be a witness in some other case. We know that now that we saw the court notice. It was never delivered to him.
Matter of fact this is the one time my brother is innocent, and this is the one time the local authorities have actually put effort into getting him. They came hard and aggresive trying to get him. 4 carloads showed up at my house looking for him. He had already moved out a few months ago though. They got him when he came to visit.


I hired a lawyer at the advice of my mother, who is an expert in dealing with these motherfuckers.

I would think they would have a subpeona cop to deliver at least to us. Didn't happen. All in all this is bullshit. They never put this much effort when he was doing more major crimes than "Contempt of court"
 
They haven't. When charged with any sort of crime where a bench warrant can be issued, you have, at least once already, appeared before a judge.

Sorry dude, but I'm not buying all that you're selling. I highly doubt you were the target of the store owner for "no reason" because, well, people don't operate like that. You have to have done something to get on his bad side sometime in the past, at the very least.

You know, it's weird. My Mom hung out with cons, was an addict, etc, and you know, no matter which city we moved to, she always claimed the cops were corrupt. I'm sure it was just a coincidence.

Edit: for contempt of court, they have to prove the contemnor had knowledge of his contempt. Good luck in this case.
 
You have to be served before you are required to show. He has to have had a subpoena given to him at some time. If not he has not broken any laws. If it is part of a deal he may have already agreed to testify when the deal was made. Most law I know if you skip out on them just reopen the case against you in those circumstances. If your brother was already "living down indictments" this could be his problem.
 
Not to be insensitive but you just got a lot more interesting. The part about your mom and you sounds a little like an old western. The story line needs a gun fight or something though.
 
The American Civil Liberties Union scare the dog shit out of the criminal justice system. Most times if you get what is referred to as legal advocacy looking into your case in the far background you got the ACLU. Them folks swing about as big a stick in my state as anyone I know. Problem is they rarely get involved in small cases unless it is going to set a precedent. Anything that is state run is their domain schools, penitentiary's etc.
 
Don't get me wrong, the cops in GA are a bunch of Fuckers. All of that drama over a fucking wallet sounds ridiculous though. I used to be lost prevention and can't think of any business that would take legal action on anything 20 dollars or below. But, they will lock you up in this state for walking around without a state ID or drivers liscence. So, if they stop you while your walking and ask for your ID and you don't have it on you then you are fucked. I hate this fuckin state. As soon as I can, I'm out of this shitty ass state and back to MD.
 
They're like that around here man, so I understand what you mean, more than some people it seems. Once they take a dislike to someone then it's guilt by association. I've dealt with it for decades around this area. I try to stay off the radar, mostly successfully. I hope you figure out what you can do, and get off on that absolute bullshit made up by railroading asshole scumbags.
