Before ya'll go crazy listen to me. If blacks want to be equal with us it is never going to happen with groups and events like those, those groups and events just do further more to separate our races, as well for Hispanic or Asian groups. Does anyone else agree? btw dont't waste your time if your gonna B*** about this.

We don't want to be equal to you, we are. To some, those small reminders are important so that, those who need it, can remember the sacrifices and know that we aren't what a lot of the stereotypes say we are (which i believe are designed to wedge the community and further harm the situation). Unity is sometimes needed to overcome and prosper in the community and in personal lives.

when, i turn on the tv, majority of the things on there is white. you guys are mad because you dont have official name. but what more can you want? the white way is the standard way.....things like the naacp is what helps keep the voice of the blacks from being smothered and ignored.

these groups you have for the minorities wouldnt be needed...if the standard way wasnt just the white way. if the media, stopped portraying minorities in an exaggerated way....and if everyone was truly represented equally everywhere....then there would be no need for such groups.

like hippy said, in her answer.....you got to change the problem that is keeping these special interest groups around, before you can change the need for an interest group.

I'm not black, hispanic, or asian... but I believe that organizations such as the NAACP are attempts at becoming equal. Your opinion isn't wrong, but said attempt isn't wrong either. After all, it is the National Assoc. for the ADVANCEMENT of Colored People...

The history that we all know, the most common stories you hear are all about white people... Other nationalities & races deserve to be recognized in history just the same. Which would be the reason there are months to "honor" their heritage.

Probably no matter how much recognition is sought, it's wasted effort. Minorities will never be put on the same level, or treated the same as white people. That's sad, but it's true...

you are the only one b****ing about it really. these months, dont do anything to anyone...they are just there.....if its affecting your day to day life...dont blame it on anyone, but yourself.

most dont even celebrate it.....id say, if you want months, like black history month gone, then talk to schools, about teaching the contributions of other races, besides just white man, and the rare and occasional white woman.

other things have to change first, if you want to change something else.

I partly agree. I think everyone should have a history month, Blacks, whites, asians, and homosexuals.

EDIT: Why am I getting thumbs down? I sense some discrimination from whoever gave me thumbs down.

I think until white emploers stop hiring on the basis of skin colour the AA can be abolished.

How we would quantify such a change I don't know.

The NAACP protects and advances the rights of the African-Americans. However if there were an NAAWP it would be a racist organization. A black ventriloquist can have a white dummy and call it "Mr. Honky" (seen him on BET) and it's okay but if a white ventriloquist had a black dummy and called it "Mr. Ni**er" it would be racist. If there were a WET network it would be racist. There is a double standard here...big time!
