As Mr.Rainsford paced around his new bedroom. He kept on thinking how am I supposed to leave this island. He thought for days, weeks, and even months. One day while he was writing down a plan he remembered that there were people down in the cellars. He thought about going down and releasing them. But his mind was evaded when he thought of them dead. “They might not even be alive anymore.” But out of curiosity and hope that at least one person was still alive, he went down to check
As he was walking down the long stairs, he noticed skeleton bones on the steps and dried blood on the railings. As he grew closer to the cells he heard an old man yell. ”Please save us, the others are all dead we are the only to survive.” As Mr.Rainsford looked closer at the man he noticed a younger figure next to him, and immediately though of his old friend Whitney.
“Whitney is that you. How can this be” Mr.Rainsford was stuttering words until Whitney said that he noticed that Mr.Rainsford was not on the ship. And just like that he ended up here
“This is where I met my old pal here. He’s been here since two years and he doesn’t even know how old he is. The truth is I’m just surprised he hasn’t passed out or died yet.”
“That’s nice to know Whitney, but have any of you know a way to get out of this Island” Rainsford asked. But all he got from his friend was a loud, high-pitched laugh.
“You can’t get off this Godforsaken Island. It’s called Ship-Trap for a reason. Nobody makes it out alive.
This time it was Rainsford that laughed. Whitney and the old man just stared at Rainsford perplexed.
“Nonsense” said Rainsford. “Anyone can get off this Island. Now that General Zaroff is dead”
Whitney and the old man looked up suspiciously, at the mention of Zaroff and the word dead. “That’s right I killed Zaroff and this Island is not a, what you call it “Ship Trap” anymore.” Rainsford said with a matter of fact tone.
You what “screamed Whitney
“I said” I heard what you said, interrupted Whitney. And you sound so happy do you. You just committed murder”
“No what I did “ said Rainsford was kill a murderer.”
And what does that make you” bellowed Whitney
“It Makes me a” Rainsford stepped back from the cells and with a whisper he said “He deserved death, he knew what was coming.
The old man interrupted the two men’s conversation. “Who’s going to continue this Islands reputation?”
This made Rainsford think about General Zaroff’s last words. “On guard”
Rainsford gave a quick smile. “Me” was Rainsford’s last word, as he went up the stairs. Leaving Whitney and the old man to die.
