...my HDD.? I have Dell P-IV, 2.4, 256 Ram and 40 GB HDD. What could be the matter. I don’t have Graphic Card. Is this essential for Windows Vista? Should I upgrade my PC or is there some problem with DVD or what.

You don't have the minimum required RAM. Beside, even if you got more RAM, your computer is WAAAAAAAAAAAY to slow. Stick to whatever you are using now.

keep with your operating system you have now vista is not capable for your computer and it will make it wayyy sloww

i'm afraid you need 512mb RAM at the very minimum to run vista and 1gb is better for it to run smoothly. 256mb simply won't work

The system requirements for Vista according to Microsoft are:

__________________________________

1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor

1 GB of system memory

40 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space

Support for DirectX 9 graphics with:

WDDM Driver

128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)

Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware

32 bits per pixel

DVD-ROM drive

Audio Output

Internet access (fees may apply)

Now, your processer seems OK. Your hard drive is pushing it, but should be OK. Your RAM is only a quarter of the minimum requirement, so Vista won't even be able to start up.

Even if you did upgrade your system to 1GB RAM, it's still going to run really slowly.

So, my recommendation is to either buy a new PC (I'd recommend Dell - They have great customer support, easy ordering etc.) or reinstall XP on your machine.

Hope that helps!

Ok, one your computer does not have enough ram and two you need! a graphics card with vista. As I am rereading this. It sounds like your computer is not built for Vista at all. I strongly suggest you upgrade your entire computer. Yes that means buying a new one. Sorry to have to say that but Vista has really thrown off the PC world.
