I got arrested for shoplifting and my court date's on Monday... should I

have gotten a lawyer? I was never read my Miranda Rights for one thing-- and there was no mention of a public defender or anything. But I'm due in court this Monday and was just planning on showing up alone and taking whatever punishment they gave me.

It was 68 dollars worth of merchandise from a dept. store in Connecticut that I attempted to swipe; I was arrested, fingerprinted, etc.... but there was no talk of lawyers, it didn't seem like a huge deal... I was cooperative and everything. I've never gotten in trouble like this before and I'm confused and now it's too late to find a lawyer or anything... am I screwed?

I agree with the first answer..ZACHS...
You will likely get a fine, some comunity service and probation.
