I (finally) made the switch to Newsgroups

Hey,

Just purchased access from Astraweb, the price is cheap enough for me to consider using Newsgroups now.

I don't know much about newsgroups but I just installed GrabIt and I'm downloading stuff right now without problem

However, I was wondering if there's really a major advantage to have a pay site like newzbin to find content easily?

I found a post in here with a list of free sites and some looks nice to get movies and TV NZB.

What does it offer, better search options, more nzb?

Thx :)

I've been playing with all those options in the last day and I found the SuperSearch a great tool and there are some great free nzb sites around (including this site! )

I'm happy with this, think I won't use much of BT sites for a while

Are you going to represent any reasons for it being "better" or any functions it has which put it above the other clients, or just say it is?

I've used it in the past and came back to Alt.Binz as it is a simpler app which still suits all my needs.

I tried it once a while back and wanted my dollar back. There is nothing there you can't easily find elsewhere. I know some people use it b/c they can save searches or create bookmarks, but I don't have a need for any of those "perks".

http://newzleech.com/ is my best friend for finding NZBs. It's going to have 99.999% of anything you're looking for. On the rarest of occasions that you think something is out there but you don't see it, you can also try http://binsearch.info/.

My first stop for NZBs is usually FST though.

Also, I suggest ditching Grabit and trying Alt.Binz. It has far more options. You can grab the latest version off of Usenet.

That's what I thought, I'm already paying for Usenet so why pay for a search engine.

I like the subcategories added by rossco in the NZB index , think it wasn't there in the past.

Getting max speed on old release is so nice :smilie4:

pay for super search is waste of money at this moment
super search retention is about 150 days general retention and 75 for erotica
Code:
http://www.newsleecher.com/ss.php
there are numerous cd-keys for 3.9 final with working ss but the truth is that this search engine sucks
instead ss just use newzleech.com you will get better and faster result for sure
Skizo NL SS beats every other method in Alt.Binz
lol good joke mate :)

Use Newsleecher, it's in the NZB section (i upped it) it has fully working super-search (search and it will find, no need to visit search engines :) ), also, it has auto repair and extract and many other great features.

Yes. But unless you pay for it, I assume it won't work.

Supersearch is over-rated anyhow. It was the shit several years back but now indexing is no big deal. There are two other methods which are integrated into Alt.Binz which I prefer and neither of them are Supersearch.

Furthermore the update will also enable us to pump the SuperSearch retention to 250 days. Or even more if needed.

Next, supersearch gives the exact same results in the same amount of time, I've done extensive testing on it...and there ARE NOT numerous NL keys floating around, only ones created by FFF's keymaker, all the rest are blacklisted and supersearch doesn't work. In NL if you look at SS, it says clearly 200 day...and I believe you can just input what days, plus who needs more than 200? Astraweb and Giganews only stand at 225 give or take, and are constantly upgrading their retention.

I also notice that SS shows "new" posts about 10 minutes or so before the other search engines do, so SS can't being going of Newzleech if SS is bringing back results and the others are not.

I haven't done side by side comparisons between all nntp clients and will not tell you that I have chosen the very very BEST!

For what its worth, I've been using newsbin for awhile and I like it. It works. Check it out if you want.

Regards,

Hugo

Dude the joke is on you.

Check that post. SS actually indexes more than other sites like newzleech or binsearch etc... The max number of days right now is only 200 days but that should be changing soon since astraweb and giganews are going for 360 days.

SS actually indexes stuff very soon after posted. I also use Easynews Web interface to find stuff but you also have to be a member of Easynews to use that. I don't think there is anyway to get SuperSearch for free right now. I looked for a while then gave up and just bought Newsleecher. The old version that has a working keygen will make you update newsleecher before using SS.

Hey,

Its not exactly a necessity, you can get everything you need without it.

But I think the ultimate combo is:

Astraweb+Newzbin+SABNZBD

It means I can be on any web browser - including the one on my phone - and browse files, click on the 'bookmark' symbol beside the thing I want and the PC at home running SABNZBD immediately picks it up, downloads it, extracts it and saves it so its ready to go.

It doesn't get any easier than that :)

Oh - and if you want to go one step better, run ORB and you can then start watching/listening to it immediately from wherever you are!
