I drank splenda sweetened tea prior to (fasting) blood chemistry profiloe

I guess I didn't think about it at the time, but I was supposed to fast (allowed water) 8-12 hours prior to my blood chemistry profile lab work, and I drank a few cups of splenda sweetened tea prior to the test. I didn't eat anything, though. Will this affect the results? the dr. is primarily concerned with my potassium levels, as I'm on a potassium-sparing diurectic and need to monitor K levels.

It could. After all, it's distilled from sugar. I trust you mentioned it to the technician? They would note it on the chart so that the doctor would know when he asesses the results.

thank you for the replies.

I did tell the technician, but I also drank a lot of water prior to the test, and I didn't tell her that, because I was told water was okay. I have to drink loads of water on spironolactone because of the potassium-sparing effect. I'll let the dr. know, though.
