I don't understand why pro-choice people argue about women's rights...?

The abortion has very little if nothing at all to do about women's rights.

It has nothing to do with health, and it has nothing to do with fetus's rights.

The argument over abortion can be solved by answering this one question:

Is it morally sound to kill fetuses? By extension, are fetuses people? Not humans, but people.

This is the only thing that needs to be debated. Whether or not the mother has too little money, whether or not the baby has too much potential, none of that is relevant.

Basically, you're deciding whether or not fetuses count as people, and are able to be murdered.

Post your opinion on this. Why do you/do you not consider a fetus to be a person?

I'll post my beliefs later...
You people keep talking about a woman's own body. Just because the baby is developing inside her rather than outside her doesn't really make a difference.

Why is it that if the baby leaves the womb, it's suddenly sacred, but for the 2 seconds beforehand, you can kill it?

I think that people are too far to one side or the other without actually thinking about what makes a person a person.

Imo, lumps of cells two days after fertilization are not people, conservatives. Similarly, a full grown fetus five minutes before birth is not a worthless lump of cells, liberals.

I believe that abortion is perfectly alright, up until the point where the baby becomes sentient. When it can feel or think, that's the point where it becomes morally wrong to kill it.

Whether or not that mother "wants it" or not is irrelevant. A mother can't just kill her born children, so why should she be able to kill her unborn children?
A couple of things:

Whether or not the fetus survives outside of a woman's body is irrelevant. Many babies that are fully born would die without medical attention because of birth complications and inborn medical conditions, and even healthy babies would die if they were left alone.

Secondly, it is not a woman's rights issue. Whether or not you can slaughter your children when you get bored with them is not a "woman's rights" issue, which is basically what conservatives feel one is doing by having an abortion. For all intents and purposes, consider the fetus a child. A human child, or baby. Then think about whether or not it's still a "woman's rights" issue.

Abortion has everything to do with women's rights! Of course only a MAN would say it isn't. Why should anyone tell me what I can or cannot do with my body? Should I have to prove I was raped to get an abortion? Should an eleven year old girl have to prove she is a victim of incest and forced to keep the baby or go through the dangerous ordeal of birth? Healthy adult women die every day from complications due to childbirth... like my cousin for instance. Imagine the risks for a really young and physically immature mother. Do you advocate murdering women/girls because of poor judgment or something entirely out of their control? How is that any different than abortion by your logic? I'm pro-choice, but not pro abortion. I wouldn't have one myself, but that's because I CHOOSE not to. Every women should have a choice, without the government or religious MEN making that choice for them. You don't know their unique situations, you don't know what's best for them. Stay out of it!

And just FYI, there are limits as to when you can abort in most places.. usually the cut off is 22-24 weeks when the fetus is considered viable. Yes, a baby can live outside the womb (with medical help) at 22 weeks. At 28 weeks the fetus has a 75-85% chance of survival- that is what they told me while I was pregnant. Because of pregnancy complications I was high risk for delivering prematurely, so I have read up on the subject of fetal viability extensively. Partial birth abortions (I.E. "killing it 2 seconds beforehand") are being banned all over the country.

I don't understand why religious men see fit to inform on womens health matters?

And as the majority of women who have abortions are Christian women, then , surely it would be a better idea to keep it in your pants in the first place, or wear a condom

sorry but my wife has given birth four times. It is painful and has had an effect on her health and well being. I can only imagine how hard men would fight against anything that was compulsory for 9 months.
I do not consider a fetus a person but I do consider abortion to be murder. The simple fact is if we were to take no action a human being would probably come in to existence. But it just is not that simple.

It is not a person, it is the potential to become a person just the same as seamen and eggs are alone. To be a person it would need a soul, also known as a nervous system. Do you feel that you've killed a potential person when you masturbate, probably not. Also it is 12x more dangerous to go through labor than to have an abortion. On the side of the rights of women, it would be their right to decide whether or not they are ready to have a baby. If they choose to have it, they will have to give up their rights to freedom (of happiness, money, time). All of which are very important to life. If you don't want to give up these rights you shouldn't have to. Lastly if you force them to have the child it would be adding to a growing foster care system which weighs on tax payers. If they choose to keep it, even though they don't want to give up their rights. They will more than likely neglect the child in pursuit of those rights.
