Israel is a US-sanctioned oppressive, aggressive slave-based society, which didn't exist until 1948, when, with the accord of the UK after the second world-war, a large number of Jewish industrialists, largely American, who had done well with manufacturing of heavy machinery and weapons... They steamed into Palestine, rounded up the local indigenous Arab population and put them behind wire and walls. Palestinians, because they are Arabs, are worth jack-$hit3 in Israeli society. It matters what race you are, if you are hit by a car - it affects the outcome of an ambulance coming to take you to a hospital. Or not.
So, Israel is a hawk, with 15 outstanding UN Security Council violations against it, though in the eyes of US Congress (around 70% old Jewish males!) it can do NO wrong. It constantly steals land from its' neighbours, and has been condemned by a number of charities including the Red Cross, who are stoically neutral, unless very seriously provoked. How do you get Israel to take you seriously? Show it that you are not a piece of prey. Tell it it will not be eating you for dinner.
I would say as much in his shoes. And I would want a few nukes, to make sure they knew I was capable of poking them in the eye.
