It's much easier and comfortable....The difference between automatic and manual transmission is like the one between a carriage and Enterprise(almost). The price factor is not a factor on why europeans choose manual.Come on, there are a lot of expensive cars in Europe driving by greedy people ? Maybe, but I doubt it.It's a bliss to drive an automatic car, you can speak on the phone with the other hand or drink a soda, etc.And 2 pedals instead of 3 is also a bliss, so it's unlogical to make your driving experience more complicated in the year 2009, when we should live as comfortable as we can and we should enjoy the marvells of technology. If you want a carriage it's not normal when you can enjoy a good car easy to drive.Car should be easy to drive for anybody, old people, young people, not so talendel folks.I am an european but I didn't even dream or how easy you can drive with an automatic car and how easy you can take license exam in US.In my country(the second poorest in European Union, Romania) the exam is very difficult to pass and driving is a menace, because of road rage and intolerant angry drivers.

Because manual is fun - you feel in more control over the car.
Ever seen a race car with automatic?
And also, if you get caught on your phone or drinking a soda you'll get fined and end up with points on your licence.
