I don't know what's wrong but do you think my iPhone is broken?

My iPhone has been working properly but when I was charging my phone then I wanted to hear some music but all I heard was nothing and I heard no sound once so ever. I don't know what's wrong with it and also, when I try to get out of the iPod section of the iPhone, on which I was on to listen to music to, it wouldn't let me and so it frozed for like 3 minutes and so I'm like "wow what just happened?" it FROZED like a COMPUTER, help me out here. Tell me what to do. I didn't do anything to the phone but it just happened like that. HELP
