...will not start.? The fuel pump is engaged and delivering fuel to the engine. You can hear it whine when you turn the key. Also, the engine floods when I try to start it. You can smell the gas. The starter engages also. All electrical power is on in the car. When I turn the key, the car trys to start but it just will not catch. It seems that there is just no spark in the engine to combust the fuel and start. Even after changing out the plugs, ignition coil and wires. Does anyone have any clue as to what the issue might be?

If there's a problem with the ignition system. You need to test it rather than throw parts at it. It's pretty easy really. Have you tested the cam position sensor? When you crank it, does the PCM even know it's cranking? Are you sure it isn't getting spark, or is it just flooding out the plugs? Do you know that it's getting compression, and that the timing belt didn't just crap out?

try hooking a scanner up to it and see if you get any trouble codes from it,that's a lot better than buying parts for it and still not getting it to start.this way if you get a code from it at least you,ll have something to work with, good luck.
