I can't sync ringtones to iPod? Help!!?!?

Okay, I have an app that allows me to get ringtones, and I sends them to my email, so I open my email and open the ringtone, and it comes up on my documents so I drag it into iTunes where it goes under the ringtone selection. But when I try to drag it into my iPod, it shows the circle crossed out thing, I can drag music and anyhing else int it except ringtones!! Anyone know why this won't work?!?!?! Please help this is drivng me crazy!!!!!!
