I cant stand watching animals get harmed in films

I can put up with humans suffering or dying, but when it comes to Animals it really upsets me.

Was just watching 'The Never Ending Story' again to relive my childhood and I still cant watch when the unicorn sinks in the swamp :o I have to skip that scene.

Anyone else get this? Even the horse scene in 'Atonement' disturbed me so much I couldn't sleep.

I don't let it ruin the movie for me because after all, it's "just a movie", but I do fill up now and again....the last time was in the cinema watching I Am Legend when -
the dog died in his arms. Had to REALLY struggle to stop myself blubbing! :D

Oh God!
You've put me off watching Atonement now.

I can't bear anything like that either - even though I know it's all faked and the animal isn't really hurt - it still upsets me.

I can't stand Westerns either with horses galloping at full tilt and falling over. In the old Westerns they had trip wires on the horses legs and they really DID fall and many broke legs and had to be shot.

Oh RAB...

I hate this as well :(

I saw a film a few years ago; 'My Dog Skip'... When Skip passed away at the end, I just wanted to burst - was just so so sad! Hence, I've never watched this film again, and I never will!

I'm sorry but nature programs fill me up.....i.e. tigers and lions baiting for deer or other such weaker and smaller animals.

But to hate the lions or tiger would be to hate nature itself.

But yes of course I understand your upset when animals die in films, but I feel far far more for humans who die.

Have you watched Human Trafficking?

Perhaps there should be more perspective and priority in your choice of what type of animal dies in a movie

There is no (real) animal cruelty in bbfc passed films, it's one of the few things left they're really strict on.

The only time it bothered me is they took a shot out of one of the conan movies showing Ar-nuld punching a camel. I would have liked to see that one.

Rita, apologies if I was rude, but talk about an over-reaction!. And I am a huge animal lover like yourself.

A fictional animal dying, and you cant watch it as a grown adult?.

Sorry, but I get angry and upset by REAL animal suffering, not pretend film deaths.

I get upset about people too, but I get FAR more upset abut animals.

They just don't understand what is happening to them.

In any case - in general - I prefer animals to people.

There is a shot in Old Gringo where Jimmy Smits' character shoots his horse.

I have always felt that there is no way you could train a horse to react the way the horse did in the movie.

As the film was made in Mexico animal action would not have been monitored by the American Humane Association.
