I can't seem to get any good help except in the site. Question.. Should a 41k...

...miles Ford Taurus? have burnt smelling transmission fluid in it if i changed the filter and the transmission fluid twice since it was new? I always noticed a slight vibrating sound on take off and then again at 40 mph.

After I drive it a while it's almost not noticeable. The sound is like a standard sound when you dive it. But it's an automatic. It's a ford lx taurus.
It's an 04 not under warranty.

sounds like you need some new ball bearings and some 40 weight oil, maybe a ball peen hammer too...

good luck and try using revers when you get that baby up to 40.... it make a sweet noise and it completely smooths out any vibrations coming from that tranny...

The burnt smell in transmission fluids usually means it needs to be replaced, but you have done that. Every 25,000 miles or so should be sufficient.

Is the fluid very dark, nearly black? This could be symptomatic of damage, perhaps in the clutch. With 41,000 miles, is it under warranty? I would thoroughly document the problem and take it to an authorized dealer if it is, and to a highly recommended transmission shop in your town if it is not.
