I can't open my jar of roasted tomato salsa, please help?

I tried getting one of those rubber things to open it and I still can't do it. I feel weird asking a neighbor. How do I get it open? Doesn't hot or cold water help?

Get a knife with a sharp point and pierce the lid. Be careful though.

I've hit the side of a spoon on to the lid of a jar (the side of the lid) and it pops open. If you can bang the side of the lid on the jar on something hard (try not to damage your counter top - I learned the hard way it can).

Hot or cold can help but it opens every time when I bag the side of the lid on something hard, yes I have done it on the ground outside and it opened without spilling.

Use a thumb tack to puncture a small hole in the lid to remove the vacuum seal.

try banging the lid on the side on the floor, with a rug/carpet
that should make it easier when you try twisting again

Try using the back of a heavy knife or the edge of the counter to tap around the edge of the lid.

I have seen on some jars you should pierce the lid.
That is a new one on me.
